Background

To improve drain water recapture at strategic locations and maximize available water supplies, Sutter Mutual Water Company took steps to update the Lift 13 in District 5B. The project was designed and constructed by Dynasty Pumps and Aqua Contractors in coordination with SMWC staff. It includes a 125-horsepower pump equipped with a variable frequency drive and approximately 150 feet of 42-inch steel discharge pipe that conveys water from the Main Drain to the main canal served by the Henry Richter Pumping Plant.

The project is designed to recycle drain water while providing on-demand, year-round service. It significantly reduces conveyance losses and lowers pumping demands at Karnak, improving overall system efficiency and operational flexibility.

Why do the Project?

  • Drain water recapture.

  • On-demand service.

  • Reduction in conveyance losses.

  • Decreased pumping costs at Karnak.

  • Allows for delivery of water year-round.
